Know Knot Workshop
Know Knot is a body-based workshop that combines knotting, weaving, movement and sensory awareness as ways of exploring connection, tension and embodied perception. Starting from the simple act of tying and forming knots, the workshop invites participants to experience how line, pressure, rhythm and repetition can shape both physical sensation and emotional response. Knotting is approached not only as a material action, but also as a relational and psychological language: a way of sensing holding, resistance, release, proximity and mutual awareness.
Through guided exercises involving rope, woven structures, movement and bodily interaction, participants are encouraged to pay attention to how the body responds to space, touch and tension. The workshop creates a process in which making and sensing happen together — where a knot can become a point of support, a form of restraint, a trace of care, or a temporary structure for connection. Rather than aiming at a fixed outcome, Know Knot opens a shared space for participants to explore the body as a site of memory, relation and transformation.
Developed from Huang Shuqin’s ongoing artistic practice across performance, installation and body-based experimentation, the workshop extends her interest in line and weaving as both sculptural form and experiential method. It offers a gentle but attentive environment in which participants can reflect on how emotions, bodily awareness and interpersonal dynamics are carried, shaped and sometimes revealed through simple material actions.
